Hoboken, New Jersey: A City on the Water

Hoboken, New Jersey, is a small, energetic city on the water. Hoboken is home to historic buildings and diverse neighborhoods, having seen influxes of immigrants who settled and called the place home throughout the years. The Lenni Lenape tribe lived in the area, and sold the land to the first settlers of Hoboken who arrived around 1630 from Holland. Today, Hoboken is home to approximately 60,000 residents.

The ferry terminal brings people into Hoboken every day for work or play. In addition, there are many things to do in Hoboken, from visiting the delicious family-owned restaurants and delis, shopping, or visiting the beautiful parks! Hoboken is a great place to live or even just spend the day.
Hoboken is a historic city located in northeastern New Jersey and is is located across the Hudson River from Manhattan. Hoboken is known for its lively nightlife, diverse population, and abundance of restaurants and bars. The majority of the population is made up of young professionals who work in Manhattan or other nearby cities. Hoboken has a thriving arts and culture scene, with many galleries and performance venues throughout the city. Several parks and recreational areas are also perfect for spending a day outdoors.
There are multiple colleges around town, including Stevens Institute Of Technology & Saint Peter's University, both known for their engineering programs with high employment rates post-graduation. This makes it perfect for people who are looking to settle down and start a family. Hoboken is also right across the river from New York City, which makes it a top choice for those working in New York City, but wanting to live outside the bustling thoroughfare. The tight-knit and resilient community of Hoboken hosts many small businesses and restaurants run by locals, serving up specialized cuisine.

Hoboken has been the manufacturing hub for several famous brands like Lipton and Wonder Bread. While manufacturing inside Hoboken has declined as the economy changes, the area continues to be economically strong and find new industries to branch out in and stay financially stable. Bouncing back from the economic downturn, Hoboken is becoming more residential instead of industrial, and is known as a trendy place to live and work.

Recently, the city has undergone effective climate change measures that prevented a second flood after a first catastrophic flood. The effort is being lauded as an important success story that can help other cities be prepared for unusually severe flooding.

There are many architectural styles throughout town, including Victorian houses along Washington Street and modern commercial buildings designed by world-renowned architects like Frank Llyod Wright. This rich history provides an exciting backdrop for daily life, making it feel more vibrant than other suburbs upstate or outside the city.

Hoboken is a uniquely beloved city offering residents both old and new a great community to enjoy and be a part of.
