Yonkers developed around the Saw Mill River, which comes into Yonkers from the north and flows into the Hudson River within the Getty Square neighborhood. Portions of the Saw Mill River were buried beneath disused parking lots but in the last few years are being uncovered or “daylighted” becoming an attraction with walking paths and shopping combined. Yonkers is the 4th most populated city in the USA. Yonkers contains many diverse neighborhoods of mostly single-family homes of Ludlow Park, Hudson Park, and Van Cortlandt Crest to the neighborhoods of Lowerre, Nodine Hill, and Park Hill which also contains several apartment buildings, retail blocks with apartment above and multifamily row houses. Yonkers is home to many attractions, such as Hudson River Museum, Saw Mill River daylighting, Sherwood House, Yonkers Raceway, and Untermyer Park.
